The Need
The work of All God’s Children International focuses largely on helping children and families heal from trauma through the work of healthy adults. It can be challenging to show the effects of trauma on children and then to show the transformation we can see in a child’s life when connected to healthy adults. In this film, we tell the story of Matías who had experienced so much trauma as a child, he was nearly non-verbal. Through the work of AGCI-trained staff members, he was able to break through and learn to trust adults again. This kind of storytelling can easily be detrimental to the child’s future, so we approached it with great care, working together with the staff at his institution.
the results
This film played a key role in raising more than half a million dollars at a single event. The film has been adapted to allow it to be used online, and multiple social-friendly edits gave AGCI the opportunity to point online traffic to their website.
