Proposal
ALPHA
Unity in Wilsonville
Project SUMMARY
The power of unity to propel transformation.
Project OVERVIEW
Create three 3-5 minute videos that unpack the importance and validity of Gen Z to an audience that may have made faulty assumptions about the generation, while showing that God can do more when we work together.
Video Summaries
Video 1 - What is Gen Z and what is Alpha Youth?
Primary Objective
To experience an emotionally-impactful story of transformation from a Wilsonville student.
Ideally a student who grew up in the church, walked away from the faith, and has experienced rebirth-renewal through ALPHA Youth.
Secondary Objective
To dispel myths/misconceptions about Gen Z while showing the hope for revival in this generation.
To give an overview of what ALPHA Youth looks like when practiced correctly/intentionally, and what makes it a unique tool for student transformation.
Video 2 - Unity
Primary Objective
To experience an emotionally-impactful story of transformation from a Wilsonville student.
Ideally a student who experienced a meaningful relationship with someone of a different generation that led to their openness to Christ.
Secondary Objective
To show how a unified vision has created unique opportunities for a broader impact among students in Wilsonville.
Show the challenges of working together while demonstrating the power of unity.
Video 3 - A Growing Movement
This video will be designed to function as a summary of the other two videos, casting a vision for a movement of unity through ALPHA Youth, while centering on a unique story of transformation. It will be the ideal single video to send/show to others when sharing three is not ideal.
Primary Objective
To experience an emotionally-impactful story of transformation from a Wilsonville student.
Ideally a student whose personal growth has become contagious and is reaching out to other students.
Secondary Objective
To give an overview of ALPHA Youth, its unified implementation in Wilsonville, and the impact it has had on students there.
Show the remarkable things that have happened because of their unified approach, and that there can be momentum if/when others take a similarly unified approach.
ideal PRODUCTION/SHOOTING SCHEDULE
Session 1 - 5-7 days - Shot while 8 weeks of ALPHA Youth are still running.
Capture location exteriors/interiors
Wilsonville HS
Grace Chapel
Capture footage of weekly gatherings
Initial Interviews - While ALPHA Youth is in session
Group interviews of students at weekly gatherings
Interviews with leadership from each of the three groups conducted separately at three relevant locations
FCA
Young Life
Grace Chapel
Any additional interviews from ALPHA Youth facilitators
Session 2 - 5-7 days - Shot after ALPHA Youth is over.
Student Story Interviews
Ideal to shoot all three over the course of 1-2 days
Three students in three separate locations relevant to their story
Ideally I will do a pre-interview with each of them over Zoom ahead of time to have an idea of how to focus the story and to build some rapport.
Student Story B-Roll
2-4 hours with each student and a trusted adult to gather relevant b-roll
Pickups
If there is a need for additional shots to fill out the story, I can hire that out to Christian filmmakers I know in the area.
Estimated budget
$6500 per video
Additional charges if video extends beyond original scope/plan
Total – $19,500
This includes pre-production planning, travel, at least 7 interview locations, equipment rental, a second shooter some of the time, multiple b-roll locations, and all post-production (editing, sound, music, coloring, etc.)
Alternate Budgets & Scope
Option 2 - $15,600
We can bring the overall cost down by 20% if we only create two videos, essentially combining the messaging of Videos 2&3. This eliminates the need to capture one of the stories of transformation.
Option 3 - $11,700
We can reduce the overall cost by 40% if we shift to a single longer video that covers everything from the three videos but only focuses on a single story of transformation.
Project process
Pre-production
Develop overall story structure and direction through conversation with relevant ALPHA team members and pre-interviews with interviewees.
Confirm Alpha’s video visual language and/or style guide, receiving logos and typefaces for use in post-production.
Schedule shoot-times for interviewees and b-roll segments.
Create shot lists and/or storyboards which will be submitted for approval.
Production
Scout interview locations at least one day before shooting interviews.
Conduct interviews.
Shoot relevant b-roll.
PostProduction
First edit of first video will be submitted for approval within three weeks of final day of shooting.
First round of revisions will be completed within one week of receiving all initial feedback.
If needed, second round of revisions will be completed within one week of receiving all feedback.
Additional revisions may incur an additional charge.
Completed project deadline – TBD
